Enjoy cocktails and
appetizers against the award-winning view of the Chicago skyline seen only from the Adler. Amble around the Adler's exhibitions or take in a sky or space show. See Saturn's rings or Jupiter's great red spot with your own eyes using the Adler's telescopes.
Adler After Dark is the only time you can peek through the Doane Observatory telescope, the largest telescope in the Midwest accessible to the public. Great for groups and makes for a very original first date, Adler After Dark has something for everyone!

Tales from the Quantum Frontier: The End of the World?

In November, the most powerful particle accelerator ever built will be switched on in Switzerland. This marvel of technology will expand our knowledge of physics by recreating the extreme energies that existed a fraction of a second after the Big Bang. But not everyone is pleased - some are even suing to stop the device from operating, claiming that the it could destroy the Earth by creating new, dangerous particles or even tiny black holes that will swallow the Earth. Should you be worried? Dr. Lincoln, a senior researcher at Fermilab, will be here to assuage your fears!
Don is the author of The Quantum Frontier: The Large Hadron Collider and will be signing copies immediately following his presentation. Books will be available for sale that evening in the gift shop.
