At the Adler
Early Childhood Program Assistant
Department:Education
Supervisor:Master Educator for Children and Families, Assistant Educators or Associate Director for Public Programs
Objectives:
In an effort to inspire exploration and understanding of the universe for our youngest visitors, ages 2-8 and their families, the Adler is facilitating early childhood programming.
Responsibilities:
• Prepare and set up daily activity.
• Assist with the facilitation of pre-developed activities.
• Provide general gallery interpretation for families with young children
• Debrief with supervisor and restock activity for following shift.
• This position may lead to a mentorship position.
Qualifications:
Required:
• Experience working with children and families.
• Maturity, dependability, flexibility and high energy.
• Ability to multi-task.
• Ability to stand for 4 hours.
• Ability to lift 50 lbs.

Desired:
• Strong interest in astronomy and earth science education and desire to learn more.
Training:
Attend a general volunteer orientation session, interpreter training and three early childhood training sessions on Saturday a month.
Commitment:
• Volunteer for one shift a week on Tuesdays, Thursday or Saturdays.
• Be available from 12:30 - 4:30 p.m.
• Make a minimum commitment of one year.
