Climate Change & Me
Empower your middle-school students to tackle one of the world’s biggest challenges. Explore what climate change is, how it affects us, and how we can shape a better future.
BOOK NOWClimate Change & Me is an immersive, interactive field trip experience at the Adler Planetarium designed to help middle schoolers understand the science behind climate change and its impact on our world. Students explore real-world impacts of global climate change on local communities—from the shores of Puerto Rico to the streets of New Orleans—and hear from NASA scientists and young activists about how collaboration can create solutions.
With critical feedback from teachers throughout the show creation, this show and the extended experience is designed to meet your curriculum needs, align with Next Generation Science Standards, and complement your classroom teaching.
With opportunities to ask questions, share their experiences, and imagine their future roles as scientists, artists, or community advocates, this experience empowers students with knowledge and hope to take on one of today’s greatest challenges.
About the Climate Change & Me Experience
The experience starts with a 40-minute interactive live sky show facilitated by Adler staff in our immersive Grainger Sky Theater. The show features visualizations created in collaboration with NASA experts alongside inspiring interviews with youth climate activists and NASA researchers, sharing their motivations and passions. Interactive moments are woven throughout, engaging students with activities like physical movement, small group discussions, call-and-response with the show operator, and more.
After the show, students will deepen their engagement with Climate Change & Me through three 20-25 minute chaperone-led activities, available in English and Spanish (available this summer). These activities, set in different exhibits at the Adler Planetarium, build on themes from the show, encouraging students to explore climate impacts in their own communities, discuss their own experiences with one another, and discover ways to take action.
Post-Field Trip Extension Activities
After the field trip, continue the Climate Change & Me experience in your classrooms with the help of two teacher-led activities. One activity focuses on creative writing and art to express climate change themes, while the other involves students participating in Adler Zooniverse, helping NASA researchers analyze data to better understand Earth’s changing climate. Activities are available in both English and Spanish (available this summer).
