Hear from Dame Jocelyn Bell Burnell about how she accidentally discovered pulsars—one of the most important astronomical finds of the 20th century!

Astrophysicist Dame Bell Burnell discovered the first radio pulsar in 1967 in Cambridge, England. During this free public lecture at the Adler Planetarium, “The Discovery Of Pulsars: A Grad Student’s Tale,” you’ll learn directly from her how the discovery of pulsars came about accidentally, and what we can learn from a story like this. After the one hour lecture, there will be a question and answer portion of the event with Dame Bell Burnell.

To attend this free event, tickets must be reserved online, in advance of your visit. Your event reservation ticket includes Museum Entry with access to all exhibitions, except individually-ticketed sky shows. Adler at Night is free for Illinois residents!
